After you initially fund your CD you can make deposits only during the 10-day grace period after the CD matures. This applies to IRA CDs as well.
If you are interested in adding money to your CD portfolio, consider a CD ladder strategy. A CD ladder strategy is a way of managing your CD portfolio so that instead of depositing funds in just one CD, funds are spread out in several CDs of different terms, such as from one to five years. With this strategy, you can benefit from more frequent access to your funds while still taking advantage of the often-better rates that accompany longer term CDs.
